     CANDLE MEDITATION

    We live incredibly busy lives, attending to all manner of needs for our jobs, family, friends, pets and home. 

    When was the last time you allowed quiet time for yourself?

    Meditation is simply the process of focusing on one thing only, allowing thoughts and inner chatter to fall away.  This leaves you with a deep feeling of stillness and peace.  Some say it is one path to connecting to your higher self or with a higher consciousness.  

    The decision of where to meditate doesn't have to be a difficult one to make.  If you intend to meditate on a regular basis at home, it is a good idea to set aside a corner in a quiet room just for this purpose.  

    The method of meditation is very simple, it just takes a little practice and the observance of the following basics:

     

    1.   Before you begin to meditate, do some simple relaxation

          exercises that focus on each area of your body.

    2.   Let go of the expectations of what you think should 

          happen in the meditation and allow yourself to

          simply "be" in the meditation.  Whatever happens is

          perfect in that time and place.

    3.  Gently push all thoughts aside.

    4.  Focus on something--breath, object, mantra or music.

         Ideas:  Float your lighted rose candle in your shiny bowl.

         Play your meditation music CD.  Use the small               

         reflection REIKIROCKS stones covered with water 

         in a small bowl as a reflecting pool.
